The Director of Student Programs will plan, develop, direct, monitor, and maintain the day-to-day operational and fiscal functions of the Beacon Hill programs. The position will provide guidance and leadership to directors, instructional staff and in planning programs to meet a variety of special needs. The position works with school principals and Campus Directors in the planning, implementing, and coordinating services with all school programs and activities. In addition, the position contributes to the development of long-range and short-term goals and operating plans for the District’s specialized programs by participating with other executive staff in the formulation of goals and priorities.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, development and implementation of District educational support programs by working cooperatively with principal and school based staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs; establish criteria, goals and procedures to be used to ensure the delivery of services are consistent across all schools.
  • Respond to issues and problems of students, teachers, principals and parents.
  • Interpret and enforce District policy as it relates to schools, educational support services and student services
  • Manage the development, preparation and submission of reports required by law or grants Beacon Hill has received.
  • Complete special projects as assigned, assist administrators with problem identification and solution, mediate disputes, and develop written reports as appropriate
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities; establish appropriate service and staffing levels; assign projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; allocate resources accordingly; review and evaluate work methods and procedures; meet with key staff to provide direction and to identify and resolve problems
  • Problem solve difficult highly emotional issues
  • Assess and monitor work load, administrative and support systems; identify opportunities for improvement; direct and implement changes
  • Responsible for the selection, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff; assign work and ensure appropriate training is provided
  • Develop and administer the department’s annual operating budget; approve the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; approve expenditures and implement budgetary adjustments as appropriate and necessary; monitor budget utilization by schools, department administrators and supervisors
  • Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
• Bachelor’s degree
• A minimum of three years’ experience in public education, part of which must have been in teaching and/or supervising school based staff.
• Demonstrated ability to support senior management and work as a team member and team builder.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience Needed: 3 – 4  years
